How to Create Student Groups From Your Pulse Results

Ever wish you could create a Student Group based on the favorability response of a Pulse question asked OR the percent favorable of a dimension?  Are you also a System Admin?  If so, then this lesson is for you!  It will walk through how to create and manage Student Groups.  

Note:  Once a Student Group is created, you will be able to use this group to select from for future Student Pulses.

Step by Step
Where to Start

1.  Select the Student Pulse that you would like to create Student Group(s) for.

1.  Select the three dots icon located in the top right hand corner of the Summary Report Page.

2.  Select User Group Creator.

1. Ensure that you have the correct Pulse window that you would like to create a Student Group for.

2. You can either select Add Question Condition or Add Dimension Condition. NOTE:  Based on what you select, different filter options will be displayed.

3.  Select Add Condition Collection if you would like to add an additional condition to your Student Group after adding your first Condition Collection.

4.  Once you have added AT LEAST ONE Condition Collection, you can Preview the Student Count.

Step One

1.  Select either Add Question Condition OR Add Dimension Condition.

Add Question Condition

1.  Use the Dropdown to select the question you would like to base the Student Group with.

2. Use the Dropdown to select the type of response you would like to use.

3.  To remove a Condition, select Remove Condition.

Add Dimension Condition

1. Use the Dropdown to select the Dimension.

2. Select the method to measure the Dimension by using the Dropdown.

3.  Select the mathematical symbol for calculating who should be in the Student Group.

4.  Enter in the percent.

5. To remove the Condition, select Remove Condition.

Step Two

Optional:  Add Additional Conditions to Your Condition Collection OR Create an Additional Collection

1.  Select Add Question Condition OR Add Dimension Condition to add additional Conditions to your Current Condition Collection.

2.  Select Add Condition Collection to add a NEW Collection Condition for your Student Group.

Add an Additional Question Condition OR Dimension Condition to Current Condition Collection

1.  Select Add Question Condition to add an additional condition to the Condition Collection.

2. Use the Dropdowns to adjust the question and response.

3.  To change requirement from an AND to OR, use the dropdown.  

NOTE:  If you select AND ONLY the Students who meet ALL of the conditions created in the Conditional Collection will be within the Student Group.  Based on screenshot above, ONLY Students that answered less than or equal to 50% for the Dimension of Self Awareness AND who also answered the question, I am excited about having time to be with family UNFAVORABLY, will be in the Student Group.

Add an ADDITIONAL Condition Collection

1.  Select Add Collection Condition to add an additional Collection Condition.

2.  Add your Question Condition(s) and/or Dimension Condition(s).

3.  Select OR if you would like ANY students be included in the Student Group if their responses match at least ONE of your Condition Collection(s).    Select AND if you would like ONLY those Students to be included in the Student Group if their responses match ALL of  your Condition Collection(s).

Step Three

1.  Select Preview Student Count.

2.  Verify Student Count and make any changes to your Condition Collection(s) as needed.

3.  To create a new Student Group based on the Condition Collection Student Count, enter in the name of the Student Group and then select Create New Student Group.

4.  To replace a CURRENT Student Group, select the Student Group to be replaced using the Dropdown and then select Replace Student Group.

.That is it--you are all done!

Next Steps

Now that you have created a Student Group based on your Condition Collection(s), you can:

1. Create another Student Group for the same Pulse Window

2. Use the Student Group when EITHER creating a new Pulse window within a Pulse, OR when creating a new Pulse.

3. View/Edit/Add Students within the Student Group by navigating to Groups within your System Admin Settings.
