Students have the option to request to speak with an adult through Kelvin. In the current digital era, students frequently discover it more convenient to communicate confidentially free from concerns about potential embarrassment or mockery from their peers. Contemporary students are familiar with expressing their ideas, emotions, and encounters in the digital realm (whether advantageous or otherwise). This is an optional feature and is not obligatory; nevertheless, it has facilitated numerous students in accessing the assistance they might not have otherwise obtained.
At the conclusion of each Pulse, Kelvin can prompt students to request assistance from an adult. This could be a school counselor, licensed social worker, or another school personnel member who is ready to respond promptly and considerately to requests. The system allows for configuration of who has access to view and respond to these requests.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is of utmost importance to establish a protocol prior to activating this feature. It is essential to ensure that there is a well-defined process in place, allowing trained personnel to promptly address the requests.
NOTE: Each Pulse can be configured to have this feature enabled or disabled.
1. Select the Pulses Page from the top navigation menu.
2. Click the three dots for the appropriate Pulse.
3. Click Edit Settings.
1. Check or uncheck the box next to Allow students to request to speak to an adult.
2. Select Save Changes.
Students who answer at least half of the survey questions unfavorably will get the option at the end to speak to an adult and will see the prompt below.
Note: The requests you receive are determined by two factors: 1) your visibility (in compliance with FERPA), meaning you can only see students who are enrolled to you, and 2) the configurations set by your system administrator (certain administrators may choose to restrict access to specific personnel for viewing and responding to requests).
The email above will be sent to those with permission to View Student Requests ten minutes after the first student has requested to speak to an adult and all will be email EACH DAY until ALL Student Requests have been resolved.
You can always see student requests via the Launchpad. When there are unresolved student requests, you will see a red beacon at the top corner of the Requests card. Click the Requests card to see a list of students requesting to speak to an adult.
Select Open for the student you would like provide documentation for.
1. View the timeline to see the narrative of a student's experience and interactions with staff.
